FACE SHAPE-OVAL

          ORNATE OVAL

DEFINING CHARACTERISTIC:

Evenly balanced ovalegg” shaped face. 🥚 You don’t have much softness to your face or squared/angular shape. Your face isn’t short or long. Your forehead isn’t much wider than the jawline and vice-versa.

  • Widest across the temples and forehead.
  • Slim proportions with a forehead and chin of almost exactly the same width.
  • Prominent cheekbones and a curved chin.
  • Ratio of width to length is about 1:1.5.

CELEBRITIES:

Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Elizabeth Banks, Agyness Deyn, Emma Roberts, Karlie Kloss, Sharon Stone, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Rose Byrne, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Megan Fox, Anne Hathaway, Kate Beckinsale, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Rachel Bilson, Kate Middleton, Eva Longoria, Olivia Munn, Lily Collins, Jourdan Dunn, Bella Hadid

EARRINGS:

Most lengths, shapes and sizes. Try earrings with an oval or teardrop shape to emphasize your face shape. Chandelier, dangle earrings, hoops, open-link chain styles, and triangle shapes are stunning. Studs are great on you. To minimize a thin oval face or a too-long nose, use styles that creep up the ear or have wings that sweep upward.

Careful: Avoid styles that are overly long, as they will lengthen the oval face. To minimize a thin oval face or a too-long nose, use styles that creep up the ear or have wings that sweep upward

NECKLACES:

Oval faces can wear almost any shape or style of necklace, provided the design is in proportion to the individual, whether petite or plus-size. Necklaces should complement the neckline worn, as well as the wearer's other qualities: chokers emphasize her long neck, a long string of pearls worn flapper-style lengthens her torso and low-hanging necklaces with drops accent a low-cut neckline. The soft curves of the oval face are best accented by soft curving shapes such as pearls, ribbon, open link chain, affirmation rings and more.

NECKLINES:

Your face is longer than it is wide. Typically, you would have a curved jawline that’s narrower than your forehead.

Type: Opt for scoop necklines work great for oval face shapes as it makes the shape of your jawline more prominent.

Width: Go for a neckline that is wider than your face to make your face appear wider than it is and balance out with the longer length of your face

Depth: Try for high necklines to camouflage length, so high crew neck and turtle necks will create the illusion of a shorter face.

  • Oval faces can wear almost any neckline.

Ideal necklinesScoop neckline, turtleneck, Nehru collar

Avoid: None

SUNGLASSES:

Any shape of sunglasses because your features are already super-balanced. Feel free to play with patterns and colors, but don’t go too crazy on the angles as they might overwhelm your face. Choose a bold shape that complements your style. Wayfarer, aviators, top-heavy frames, butterfly shapes (wings up and out slightly at the top), and oversized frames are great.

Oval faces can wear almost any frame shape, so feel free to experiment with the latest looks. The top suggestion is to wear square frames with slightly rounded edges.

Careful: Too oversized frames and shapes that cover up your symmetrical cheekbones.

HATS:

Most hats suit you so be bold and daring! Couple tips: asymmetrical hats are good, the crown of the hat should not be narrower than your cheekbones, and hats should be no wider than the width of your shoulders.

Choose large brimmed hats that are either floppy or straight, outback, brimless hats, fedoras, berets, bucket hats, boater hats, cloches, newsboy cap, baseball caps, beanies, cossacks, and turban hats. It usually works best to choose a hat color that contrasts your hair (dark with blonde, light with brunette) and complements your complexion!

Careful: Tight-fitting hats and hats with large pompoms.

EYEBROWS:

Thick, softly angled brows (think Karlie Kloss or Beyonce). A moderate arch instead of a high arch (a higher arch will just exaggerate your longer face shape). You can pull off many types of eyebrows.

HAIRSTYLES:

You can be daring! With such perfect proportions and killer cheekbones—short and sharp, long and luxurious, bobbed, pixie cut, layered, curly, middle parted, chignoned, crimped, with or without bangs (blunt bangs are great on you), anything goes. Hairstyles that keep your hair away from your face to expose your best features. At least tuck one side of your hair behind your ear to show your face when you’re wearing your hair down. Bring attention to your lovely balanced face with headscarves and headbands.

Careful: Heavy bangs and hairstyles that are one length.

BRIDAL TIPS:

Oval faces can wear almost any neckline, necklace or earring style. Keep in mind the size of the bride, her coloring and the simplicity (or ornateness) of her gown--a more ornate gown can support more ornate jewelry.

Matching the patterns, designs, textures and qualities of her gown completes the presentation. If the bride has her hair pulled back or worn up, she shows her face shape best--and gives the jewelry designer the opportunity to create matching hair jewellery.
